How To: 10 Tips for Pre-Ordering the New iPhone X on Friday Before They Sell Out
The new iPhone X will be released on Friday, Nov. 3, in Apple Stores located in over 55 countries and territories. For those of you who would rather skip the in-stores lines that will start building well before the 8 a.m. local time openings, you can preorder the iPhone X on Friday, Oct. 27, starting at 12:01 a.m. PDT.But just knowing that isn't enough to be one of the first to get your hands on one. You'll need to make sure you ready and practice, practice, practice. We'll go over some quick tips below on how to secure a new iPhone X from Apple directly when preorders first open up. Obviously, if you plan on getting or upgrading to a new iPhone from your carrier, you'll want to go that route instead. Some of the tips below will still be helpful for you, though, so check them out and get ready for preordering time.More Info: Preorder & Release Dates for the iPhone X
Tip 1: Check if You Can UpgradeIf you're currently on the iPhone Upgrade Program (IUP), make sure to check if you're even eligible to upgrade to a new iPhone X.Been on the plan for over 12 months already? Then you should be good to start checking out the other tips below. If it's been at least 6 months, and you've made at least 12 months worth of payments, you're also good to go. To make things easy, you can check and see if you're eligible to upgrade using Apple's online tool, or just check out Tip 3 below if you know you want to preorder the iPhone X.

Tip 2: Use the Apple Store AppThis tip might come as a bit of a surprise, but the Apple Store app is a surprisingly reliable way to make purchases and preorders through Apple. Buyers even report that the app is faster and most trustworthy than Apple's website for preordering during the heavy traffic. If you've never used the app before, just think of it like the App Store but for hardware, like iPhones, iPads, etc. It's just a convenient way for customers to purchase products on mobile — without having to risk using the official Apple site.Install the Apple Store app from the iOS App Store

Tip 3: Get Preapproved (Current IUP Users Only)If you're already on the iPhone Upgrade Program, you have the best chance of securing a new iPhone X because you can get preapproved for the iPhone X you want using the Apple Store app. This means come preorder time, all you have to do is complete the upgrade via the app. If you're not already on the iPhone Upgrade Program, make sure to check out the other tips below. To start, open up the app and at the top of the page, you'll see a notification to Get a head start on your upgrade. Tap on "Start now" to begin. If you don't see this message, tap on the iPhone X image and it'll hopefully appear on the next screen at the top. It will automatically confirm your eligibility to upgrade, and if you're good there, all you have to do is go through the on-screen prompts to save everything. According to the app, you can get preapproved for the iPhone X with the iPhone Upgrade Program until 4 p.m. PDT on Thursday, Oct. 26, so it's better to do this sooner than later, just in case you forget. Also, once you confirm the color and capacity you want, you won't be able to make any changes until preorders open up, in which case you can make changes during checkout. However, that means you will waste precious time and might not secure an iPhone X in a timely manner. So make sure before you commit. When in the carrier selection section, you may need a PIN to continue. Also, if you get an error about "problems connecting to the server," just tap "OK" and keep trying. If you're in the middle of a plan change, you might not be able to proceed until the details of your plan have concluded with your carrier. After that, you'll have to go through the process of giving up your social security number and confirming your billing address, shipping address, payment method, birthdate, and total income amount. If everything goes well, you'll need to accept the terms and conditions and the installment agreement. Then you're all set for game day.

Tip 4: Make Sure Your Payment Is Up to Date (Non-IUP Users)If you can't use the tip above because you're not on the iPhone Upgrade Program, the last thing you want on preorder day is to suddenly remember you have an old credit card attached to your Apple ID. By the time you've entered a new card into your account, those new iPhones may be long-gone.Make sure that doesn't happen by double-checking your payment information. Like, right now.Just head to "Account" if using the Apple Store app. Alternatively, go to the iTunes & App Store menu in your iPhone's settings, tap your Apple ID, then choose "View Apple ID." Next, tap "Payment Information," then carefully review what you have entered already, or enter your relevant information. Updating through the the Settings menu in iOS.
Tip 5: And You're Shipping Address (Non-IUP Users)Aside from making sure you have the right payment information saved, you'll want to make sure you update your primary shipping address too, especially if you've recently moved. Just open up the Apple Store app, tap on "Account," then choose "Primary Shipping," and sign in. Make any changes necessary and "Save."

Tip 6: Save Your Order as a Favorite (Non-IUP Users)In the App Store app, you can save the iPhone X as a favorite. When it's finally opened for preorders, you can just tap on your favorite and save some time trying to configure your model. To do so, being selecting the iPhone X version you want and continue checking out. When you get to the Summary screen, just tap the heart icon to save as a favorite. You can access "My Favorites" from the "Account" tab.
Tip 7: Practice Ordering (Non-IUP Users)You know how you get to Carnegie Hall, don't you? Practicing ordering on the Apple Store app is a great way to make sure you know what you're doing when you do preorder your iPhone. Just go through the steps to ordering a product on the app, and stop before payment is required. Unless, you know, you want to buy something.
Tip 8: Use Multiple Devices on Different Connections (Non-IUP Users)What happens if, for some reason, your iPhone freezes or shuts down right before you can preorder the new iPhone? You won't need to panic because you'll have set up a preorder on multiple devices. That way, if one device actually crashes, you can switch to one of your other devices to complete the preorder.Another good tip, if possible for you, is to keep each of these devices connected to a different internet connection. That way, you won't slow down your internet with multiple devices all using the same network. If you connect your iPhone to cellular, you can at least have two separate networks to work with.
Tip 9: Kill All Running ApplicationsThis tip's easy — the fewer apps you run at once, the less stress you put on your RAM. If you don't run any other apps, you free up system resources for the Apple Store app to process your purchase(s). Not a bad tradeoff. To kill any running apps, double click the home button, then swipe up on all apps other than the Apple Store app. It's that simple. If you want to get your hands a bit dirty, you can also purge the RAM on your iPhone. Follow the instructions in the link below to find out how.Don't Miss: This Trick Will Instantly Increase Performance on Your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch
Tip 10: Set a ReminderIt might sound simple, but setting yourself a reminder can be the difference between an iPhone X and an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus. Just set yourself a reminder for that 12:01 a.m. PDT preorder time, and you can rest easy knowing you won't forget anything. If you used Tip 3 above for the iPhone Upgrade Program, you can just tap on "Add pre-order to Calendar" after you've been preapproved for your loan.Don't Miss: 90+ Cool New iOS 11 Features You Didn't Know AboutFollow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, and Instagram Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+

How To: Stop Your iPhone Photos from Broadcasting Your Location to Others

How To: Stop Your iPhone Photos from Broadcasting Your Location to Others

Every photo you take is brimming with metadata such as iPhone model, date and time, shooting modes, focal length, shutter speed, flash use, and geolocation information. Share these pictures with friends, family, or acquaintances via texts, emails, or another direct share method, and you unwittingly share your location data. Even sharing via apps and social media sites can compromise your privacy. This metadata is referred to as EXIF data and includes a lot of identifying information, the most important of which is geotagged coordinates. Share a photo with this geocoded info to people you know or even online to masses of strangers, and someone can use the data to find out where you live, work, or frequent.Don't Miss: Transfer Photos & Videos from Your DSLR Camera to Your iPhone EXIF data is actually something professional photographers always want to be included in images — even on social media sites — since it helps protect copyright. For the rest of us, it's probably a much better option to either strip or change the location data or block that metadata from being recorded in the first place, to prevent anyone from learning your whereabouts. And we can help you out with that.

Method 1: Disable Location ServicesBy default, your iPhone uses its GPS system to identify an exact or approximate location for your device, then embeds that information into any photos you take. The geotags embedded in your images makes it easy to find and organize your photos on your iPhone or computer, and it also helps you tag location details on social media sites when you do want people to know where you're at.However, those benefits can be problematic if your photos get into the wrong hands. Let's say you meet someone on a dating app and share a few pictures through text messages. Although this may seem innocent enough, the photos you share could send them your location. If the photos were taken at your home, the recipient could use software to narrow down where you live. Below, you can see how I saved a photo that was sent to me, then viewed the location of where it was taken. If you don't want any of your iPhone photos to come tagged with your location data, you can disable the "Location Services" setting for your Camera app or for third-party camera apps, such as Huji Cam, Halide Camera, Flickr, Camera+, and Focos. To do this, go to Settings –> Privacy –> Location Services. Next, tap on the camera app you want to change settings for, and tap on "Never" so that your photos (and videos) are not tagged with your location when taken.More Info: How to Prevent Location Data from Being Stored in Photos Below, you can see a photo with the GPS data enabled (left) and another photo with the feature disabled (right). Instead of the location appearing at the top of the photo in the Photos app, it simply says the date and time when it was taken.

Method 2: Take a Screenshot of a PhotoIf you don't want to disable GPS access for your camera app but still want a way to remove location metadata from a photo on a case-by-case basis, simply take a screenshot of it. Not only does this remove the location, but it also changes the date and time to whenever you take the screenshot. For example, below is a picture I took in Berlin back in October, being viewed in the Photos app. At the top of the photo is the location, and when I swipe up on the picture, I can see the photo on a map for a more precise look at where it was taken. If I screenshot the original picture, the location, date, and time are wiped. If I swipe up on the image in Photos, the map no longer appears, instead showing only related photos. However, there are a few downsides to this process:You'll have to crop the image back to its original aspect. You'll lose quality, so the resolution and dimensions will not be the same. Screenshots of live photos will not retain live photo capabilities. The image might be a different file type, so if you wanted HEIC, it may be turned into a JPG or PNG.

Method 3: Remove or Change Location of PhotoKoredoko, a free iOS application from Norio Kawabata, lets you view the EXIF data of any photo, including the location. If you don't want to lose resolution (like with a screenshot), you can remove the location of a photo using this app.App Store Link: Koredoko - Exif and GPS Viewer (free) Open Koredoko, tap on the three-dash menu in the bottom left, and find the picture you want to remove the location of. Select the photo, and it will appear on a map, showing you where it was taken. Tap on its information (i) button, hit the share button in the top right, and select "Share without Metadata." You can then save the photo or share it with another app with no location embedded. If removing the location from a photo is not enough for you, you can use Koredoko to change the location of where the photo was taken to anywhere in the world. To change the location, hold down on the photo and drag it to any new location.More Info: How to Remove or Change Geotags from iPhone Photos Once you let go of the photo, tap "OK" when it asks if you want to change the location. As you can see, my original photo was taken in Los Angeles, California, and I moved it to Rocky View No. 44, a municipal district in southern Alberta, Canada. Swipe up on the picture in your Photos app, and it will show up in the location that you changed it to.
Method 4: Upload to EXIF-Stripping SitesThe previous methods are all geared towards protecting your privacy when you share images through text messages, emails, or a similar platform, but what happens when you upload to image-hosting websites or social media applications?Whenever you upload a photo to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Messenger, WhatsApp, eBay, Imgur, and Craigslist, the metadata is erased when it's eventually posted. These sites will use this information to help you with site features such as tagging your location, but when it begins the conversion and is uploaded to the site, the data is erased.Services you need to be more careful with include Google+, Dropbox, Flickr, Lightroom, Google Photos, and Tumblr. These sites are examples where all the metadata is left intact, so other users can either see location data for the image directly on the service or using an EXIF-viewing app when downloaded. This article was produced during Gadget Hacks' special coverage on smartphone privacy and security. News: The Galaxy S10 Doesn't Have a Notification LED Here's Why

News: The Galaxy S10 Doesn't Have a Notification LED Here's Why
Samsung just announced the Galaxy S10 lineup, but we already knew each device's every nook and cranny. Thanks to leaks and hands-on demos, we know the OEM kept the coveted headphone jack, but omitted one treasured feature in its place — the notification LED. Why did Samsung strip the S10 of this light, and can users expect something to replace it?Notification LEDs have been an integral part of Samsung devices for years. Android fans might not remember a time before these lights, and for good reason — they're super cool. Notification LEDs offer an easy, unintrusive way to know whether or not you have alerts on your phone. No sounds, no light-up displays, just a small, convenient blink.Don't Miss: All You Need to Know About the Galaxy S10 Lineup Then why get rid of it? Well, it most likely isn't an intentional omission, at least not in the sense of, say, an outdated port. Rather, the notification LED is simply a casualty of Samsung's bold new design. In order to create that seamless edge-to-edge infinity display, something had to give. You can't have a traditional notification LED when the space it needs to take up is currently occupied by that coveted screen real estate.Undoubtedly, long-time fans will be disappointed. While they can still boast over most of the smartphone world with their intact headphone jacks, the new S10 is just another device to lose the notification LED.So, where do we go from here? Well, perhaps around the display. Samsung's Edge Lighting is much like a notification LED, except instead of being one single light, the entire border of the display lights up. While the feature only works while interacting with your phone, it's a cool replacement for notification popups, and offers a lot in the way of user customization. Those who know Edge Lighting's past limitations should find comfort that Samsung has updated the feature with One UI. Still, it's not quite a true replacement for the simple nature of the notification LED. Hopefully, Samsung includes an always-on display version of the notification LED, or, better yet, utilizes the ring light around the selfie camera as a notification LED. Sadly, there are no official plans for either of these replacements at this time.Don't Miss: Galaxy Devices Are Getting Better Edge LightingFollow Gadget Hacks on Pinterest, Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, and Flipboard Sign up for Gadget Hacks' daily newsletter or weekly Android and iOS updates Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Flipboard

How To: Install TWRP Recovery on Your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (Sprint or T-Mobile)

How To: Install TWRP Recovery on Your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (Sprint or T-Mobile)
As we near the one-year anniversary of its release (and the inevitable unveiling of its successor), the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 remains a device that packs quite a punch when it comes to hardware. It boasts a 2.3Ghz CPU and was the first mobile phone ever to house 3GBs of RAM. Suffice it to say, it can handle any software you throw at it with no discernible lag. Even Samsung's notoriously bloated TouchWiz ROM seems lightning fast. It's almost scary to think how well this device could handle an even leaner, AOSP-based ROM, like CyanogenMod or ParanoidAndroid. When opting for AOSP ROMs over TouchWiz, people often report better battery life and faster speeds. It makes sense because of the less taxing software, but why take their word for it?Installing a custom ROM onto your Note 3 may sound scary, but it's all made simple with a piece of software called a recovery, which you can have installed in minutes. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
PrerequisitesThis tutorial is geared for the Sprint and T-Mobile variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. If you have AT&T or Verizon, you have a locked bootloader and cannot proceed with this guide. You can, however, check out our guide how to install the Safestrap custom recovery on your Note 3.You'll also need to be rooted, which is now easier than ever, thanks to Towelroot.

Step 1: Download & Install "TWRP Manager"Jmz Software brings us the easiest way to install a custom recovery. TWRP Manager (ROOT) will allow you to install TWRP onto your phone in mere minutes, so grab it from Google Play to get started. Team Win Recovery Project (also known as TWRP) is the recovery of choice for most Android modders. It's fast, stable, and has an easy-to-use touch interface. Thanks to Team Win, you'll be installing new ROMs and creating full backups in no time!

Step 2: Use TWRP Manager to Install a RecoveryOpen up TWRP Manager and grant it superuser access, then tap on Install TWRP from the left-hand menu. You'll need to select the correct, carrier-specific version of TWRP to install, so tap on Device Name. If you have the Sprint variant of the Note 3, then select hltespr. If you're on T-Mobile, select hltetmo. Now tap on Install Recovery, which will start downloading the .img file. You may get a warning asking you to verify what partition the recovery should be installed on. The partition listed should look like this:/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recoveryConfirm by tapping Yes at the popup. It should take just a few seconds, then you'll officially have a custom recovery!

Step 3: Boot into Your New RecoveryThere are several ways to boot into recovery. First, from TWRP Manager, you can select Reboot Options from the menu, then tap on Reboot to Recovery. Alternatively, you can power off your device, then power it back on by holding the Power, Home, and Volume Up keys simultaneously. As soon as you see the words Recovery booting in blue, let go of those three buttons. You can also use an app called Quick Boot to add this option to your device—check out "Option #3" is Dallas' guide here.
Using TWRP to Flash Custom ROMsNow that you have a custom recovery on your Note 3, you have the power to flash custom ROMs, such as CyanogenMod. Before you get into ROM-flashing, though, you'll need to get into the habit of doing a few things.

Step 1: Create (And Restore) Nandroid BackupsJust in case something goes wrong, like a bad .zip file getting flashed, or you simply don't like the ROM you installed, you'll need a proper backup to revert to. You can create a full nandroid backup by tapping on Backup. A nandroid is a complete snapshot of everything on your device; the current ROM, your apps, music, text messages, you name it. Not a single byte is left out. (1) Choose "Backup" from main menu, (2) Swipe to Confirm Backup, (3) Nandroid being created Make sure the boxes next to Boot, System, and Data are all checked. Then slide the Swipe to Back Up button over to the right to make your first nandroid. If you ever need to restore it, tap on the Restore button from the main menu. Find your backup (stored on your external SD card), then slide the Swipe to Restore button over to begin restoring it.

Step 2: Wipe Data to Prepare for a New ROMBefore installing a new ROM, you'll need a clean slate to work with. The Wipe option helps you achieve that by clearing out the necessary partitions on your device. A "Factory Reset" is the standard type of wipe, and is typically all that's needed to prepare for a new ROM. Once you've made a backup and have a custom ROM .zip file on your SD card, you can use the Swipe to Factory Reset button to begin the wipe.

Step 3: Installing ROMs or ModsMake sure to choose a ROM that's specific to your carrier and device, otherwise you risk bricking it. How To: Get Enhanced Copy & Paste Functions on Android for Easier Multitasking

How To: Get Enhanced Copy & Paste Functions on Android for Easier Multitasking
For the most part, when you're copying text on your Android device, it's because you intend on pasting it into a different app than the one you're currently using. For instance, you might be looking at a posting on Craigslist. So you copy the seller's phone number, then head to your home screen, switch over to your phone app, paste it into your dialer, and finally make the call.Well a new app from developer Murin can speed this process up drastically by removing the need to switch between apps. Basically, as soon as you tap the copy button after highlighting some text, you'll get a menu with common system functions to paste this text into, saving you at least two or three taps. For a similar app with improved features and a less in-your-face popup menu, check out Clipboard Actions.

Step 1: Install Easy CopyMurin's app is called Easy Copy, or more specifically, "Easy Copy - 1-Tap Copy Paste," and it's available on the Google Play Store for free. Search the app by name to get it installed, or head directly to the install page at this link.

Step 2: Configure Paste OptionsWhen you first launch Easy Copy, you'll get a quick feature tour. After viewing this demo, press your device's back button, and you'll be taken to the app's main menu. From here, tap "Pop up display settings" to sort the various options that you'll see when you copy text. With this menu, you can turn any of the options off if you'd like, and you can even reorder the list. Back out on the main screen again, tap "Action Settings" to configure additional options. Here you can set up the translation option, as well as adjust the calendar entry settings.

Step 3: Copy Text & Use the New FunctionsWhen you have everything set up to your liking, using the app is incredibly simple—just select any text from within any app, then press the "copy" button, and the Easy Copy menu will come up immediately. From here, select any action that you'd like to perform with this text, and the fields will automatically be populated in the target app. You can also remove ads from Easy Copy through an in-app purchase of $1.99. (1) Text copied, (2) "Search" function selected, (3) Text automatically searched with the Google app Has Easy Copy improved the copy and paste experience on your Android device? How To: Viral HD Is YouTube on Steroids for Your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or Other Android Device
Let's face it, the stock YouTube app for Android kinda sucks. It has limited capabilities, at-time wavering connectivity, and the pop-up player it comes with is just not very good. If you want to enhance your mobile YouTube experience to how it should be, the answer lies within a third-party app called Viral HD YouTube Popup Player by Android dev Mata. There are some other third-party apps to help make YouTube better, like NextVid, which lets you play nonstop playlists in the background, and YouTube Floating Popup Player, which lets you play videos on top of other apps, but Viral HD is a whole 'nother beast, one that's likely to replace your current YouTube app entirely. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Searching YouTube Videos Is More ComprehensiveSearch in Viral HD is much more comprehensive than the stock YouTube app. Once you type in what you're looking for, you can choose between Video, Channels, and Playlist just like you can on the official YouTube app, but Viral HD has many more options for fine-tuning your search. On the official YouTube app, you can only search videos by the date posted (All time, Today, This week, This month), and you can do the same in Viral HD, but add to that video length (All, Under 5 mins, Under 20 mins, Above 20 mins), popularity (Relevance, Published, View count, Rating), and features (HD, CC, 3D).

There Are More Viewing OptionsOnce you find a video that you want to watch, there are a few unique tools that you can use. You can change the video resolution from 144p up to 1080p (if it has the capability). I think this is one the best features, in that I have control over what kind of quality I want. On the official YouTube app, you can only change between regular and HD. From the actual video screen, you can swipe up and down on the left and right side of it. If you swipe on the left side, the brightness of the video changes. If you swipe on the right side, the volume changes.

The Customizable Popup Player Is GreatThe gem of Viral HD is the popup player, which completely blows the stock YouTube player one out of the water, which you can't even view outside of the YouTube app.If you want to bring out the Viral HD popup player, just press down on the video and swipe down. The video will then turn into a small popup, which you can then customize to any size. From the popup player, you can turn it back into full-screen, change the volume, edit the resolution, and hide the player completely. If you hide the player (by tapping the square icon with a line across the bottom), it will continue to play the video in the background, useful for those that want to hear a song but don't want to watch the video. To bring back the video, just swipe down on your notification bar and tap on Showtime Player. Note: If you tap on a video in your phone's gallery, you'll have the option to watch them in Viral's popup player, too.

Settings, Preferences, & Themes GaloreIf you go into the Viral's settings and preferences, you'll find an extensive list of things you can change and edit—which is good. From the preferences you can edit animations, set default resolutions, save popup player position, changing button behaviors, and more. If you want, you can also edit the entire application's layout by choosing the colors for practically everything, including the logo, dividers, tabs, text, background, etc.
ConclusionOverall, I find this to be the best YouTube app in the market by far, if not merely for the amount of customization allowed. There are ads in the app, but they are fairly unobtrusive, but if you want an ad-free experience, they do offer a Pro Version for $3.99.What do you think of Viral HD? Let us know below.

How To: Center the Status Bar Clock in Android Lollipop

How To: Center the Status Bar Clock in Android Lollipop
If you're like me, things just seem to look better when they're symmetrical. While Android's status bar icons are indeed weighted against the notifications that show up on the left side of this area, the balance still seems skewed to the right.A popular fix for this in the past has been to center the clock in the status bar—pulling it from the far right to the middle. Past mods, however, have been rendered obsolete by Android 5.0 Lollipop. That is, of course, until Android themer Napoleon First stepped in and made a Flashable ZIP mod with Lollipop compatibility. Symmetry lovers who own any 5.0.1 Nexus device can now breathe a sigh of relief. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
RequirementsRooted Nexus device (or any other device running stock Android 5.0.1) Custom recovery installed

Step 1: Download the Centered Clock ModTo begin, point your Nexus device's web browser to this link. The Centered Clock mod should start downloading immediately, but wait until it has finished before proceeding to the next step.

Step 2: Boot into Custom RecoveryNext, you'll have to boot your phone or tablet into custom recovery in order to flash the mod. Start by powering your device completely off. When the screen goes black, press and hold the volume down and power buttons simultaneously. This will bring up Android's bootloader menu. From here, press the volume down button twice to highlight "Recovery mode," then press the power button to select it. Your custom recovery should come up momentarily.

Step 3: Install the Centered Clock ModFrom TWRP's main menu, tap the "Install" button to begin. After that, navigate to your device's Download folder and select the center_clock.zip file. Next, simply swipe the slider at the bottom of the screen to install the mod. When it's finished, tap "Reboot System." When you get back up, the status bar clock should now be moved to the center of the screen—gorgeous, right? (1) Before, (2) After
Reverting BackTo get the clock back on the right alignment, simply flash this revert ZIP file just as you did the center clock file in recovery. When you boot back up after flashing, your clock will be back the way Google intended it to be.Do you prefer the centered look for your status bar clock? Sure, it just changes some colors, but it has been a highly sought-after feature since iPhone users got it months ago. With dark mode, those of us who like to watch YouTube videos late into the night, won't have our eyes strained thanks to the white background being replaced with a dark gray. Then, of course, there's the cool factor — you have to admit the traditional white background we have been so used to was getting a little stale.

Step 1: Update to the Latest Version of YouTubeFirst, you'll need the latest version of the YouTube app for Android. Check the YouTube app's Play Store page below — if there is an option to update, do so now.Update the YouTube app on the Google Play Store If you don't see an option to update, you might already have the latest version. To verify what version you are on, open your phone's main Settings menu and select the top search bar, then search for "YouTube" and open its "App Info" page. Scroll to the bottom of the page (on a newer version of Android, you will need to press "Advanced" to reveal all options available on the App Info page), and under App details, you'll see a version number. To access YouTube's Dark Mode, you must have version 13.35.51 or newer.

Step 2: Enable Dark ModeNow, open YouTube and select "Library" located in the bottom-right corner of your display. Choose your profile picture in the upper-right corner of the Library tab and select "Settings." Choose "General," and the second option on the list will be "Dark theme." Select this option to enable the toggle. A few users have mentioned they didn't see the option right away. If you don't see it, closing and re-opening the app will correct this problem. You might have to do it a couple times, or you might have to go as far as hitting "Force close" on YouTube's App Info page in Settings, but it will eventually work. I was able to get the option with my LG V30 using this method, while my Essential PH-1 worked right away.Once you've enabled dark mode, the background color of the main menu will switch to a dark gray. Additionally, all backgrounds with white colors will also switch to gray, including within each tab and in the options below while watching videos in portrait mode. What do you think about YouTube's dark mode? Is it everything you'd been hoping for? How To: Oops! Hit "Send" Too Soon? Here's How to Recall Sent Emails on Almost Any Platform

Send an email prematurely? Forgot to attach a file? Accidentally addressed it to the wrong person? It happens to the best of us. But what can you do to get it back? Hack into the other person's email account and delete the email before they get a chance to see it? Unless you're a hacker extraordinaire, that option is unlikely. So, what can you do? If the email has already been sent, you're probably out of luck. Even if they didn't read it yet, your chances of retrieving it are slim. But some popular email clients like Gmail do have features built-in that let you pause the sending process, giving you a few seconds to recall your message. Some platforms, like Outlook, actually let you steal it back, as long as it hasn't been read.

GmailGoogle has a really easy way to undo sent emails, only you must enable it in your Gmail settings. Once enabled, you'll have anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds to undo the email, depending on what you select. To enable the "Undo" option, first click on the gear symbol in the upper right and click on Settings. In the General tab, scroll down and find the Undo Send feature. Enable it, choose your preferred wait time, and select Save Changes at the bottom of the page. Now whenever you send an email, you should see the Undo button at the top of your screen in the yellow sent verification. This option will disappear after your allotted wait time chosen. After clicking on it, it should say "Sending has been undone" and you should receive the email back in draft mode. Obviously, you can't undo sent mail once it has already been sent to the recipient. All that this feature does is halt the send process, giving you an easy chance to renege.

Microsoft OutlookIt's actually a bit easier to recall a message in Microsoft Outlook.Micrsoft Outlook 2010First, get to the sent message by going to Mail -> Navigation Pane -> Sent Items. From there, click on the Message tab -> Move group -> Actions -> Recall This Message. From there, you have two options:Delete unread copies of this message. Delete unread copies and replace with a new message. Click on OK and if you chose to resend, update the message and send like normal. You can watch a video of the process here. You can also just find your sent message and click on File -> Info -> Resend or Recall. Image via wonderhowto.com Microsoft Outlook 2007It's pretty much the same as above, only on the Message tab, go to Actions -> Other Actions -> Recall This Message and proceed as above. Microsoft Outlook 2003Just like in 2007, go to the Actions menu and click on Recall This Message, then proceed as normal. NOTE: You need to have Microsoft Exchange in order to use this feature, and so does the person you are sending it to. You can't undo sent mail once it has been read.
Yahoo! MailUnfortunately, Yahoo can't undo sent messages at the moment. And you can't use something like Outlook, since that only works with a Microsoft Exchange account. Yahoo recommends saving drafts first and thinking twice before sending.
AOL MailAOL does have a way to undo sent emails, but it only works when exchanging emails with other AOL users. To do this:Select Mail | Sent Mail from the menu in AOL. Highlight the message you want to take back. Click the Unsend button. NOTE: You can undo a sent message if...The message was sent to AOL recipients only. You sent the message from AOL itself, not from an email client using IMAP and SMTP to access an AOL email account. The message has not yet been read by any recipient.
What About the Other Email Services? For the other email services like iCloud, Hotmail and Facebook email, there are no current ways to undo any sent messages, unless you know something I don't.And of course, you can always just pull out your Ethernet cable right after you send your email in hopes of catching it before it sends. But if you really have a problem with sending emails prematurely or to the wrong person all of the time, I suggest you start hitting the draft-saving button instead of the send button, like Yahoo suggests, then come back five minutes later and make sure it's all good. Though, then you run into the problem of forgetting to come back and send it.

How To: Get Dolby Atmos on Your OnePlus 6T for Enhanced Audio

How To: Get Dolby Atmos on Your OnePlus 6T for Enhanced Audio
The OnePlus 6T is easily one of 2018's best value phones for many reasons, especially when it comes to rooting and modding. But like many new phones, it's plagued with the single bottom-firing speaker that left us wanting more in the sound department. The speaker is decent on its own, but it appears to have some hidden potential at the same time.By utilizing the Dolby Digital Plus Magisk module by repey6, you can turn your decent speaker into one that punches well above its weight. This works for both the phone speaker itself and your headphones as well. No complicated setup here — just a few quick settings and you're good to go! I'll show you how to configure this module and share two great profiles I'm using to enhance your listening experience.
RequirementsOnePlus 6T unlocked bootloader TWRP installed root access Magisk installed
Step 1: Download the Dolby Digital Plus ModuleBefore you can begin enhancing the audio on your OnePlus 6T, you will need to download the core module to make this whole thing work. There is one main file you want to download, which is the core module itself.Download Dolby Digital Plus Module Once you have downloaded the file from above, make sure it is located in the "Download" folder on your phone. If you're using a computer, go ahead and mount your phone then transfer the file over to your internal storage.

Step 2: Install the ModuleNext, you must open the Magisk Manager app so you can begin flashing the file onto your device. From the main screen on Magisk Manager, tap the menu icon on the left, go to "Modules," then tap the plus sign button at the bottom. From there, navigate to the "Download" folder (or the location you stored the module file), followed by tapping the main installer file. It will begin installing the module, and once it finishes, tap the "Reboot" option to proceed.

Step 3: Open the Dolby AppNow that you are back up, head into the app drawer of your home launcher and you should find a newly installed app called "Dolby." Open the app and then make sure your media volume is low before proceeding. The normal volume level you are used to will be changed, so that's something to be aware of while using this module. I'll go over the main screen and some of the things you will see in the section below. Play DemoTypically, you would be able to hear a sample song to test the sound settings, but it appears this option is broken right now. Don't worry about it; you probably won't need it anyway.MovieWhen you want to watch movies, this option should make the vocal audio stand out more than usual while maintaining some bass for good sound effects.MusicWhile listening to music, this option should make the audio a bit more punchy with slightly increased bass to enhance the audio.GameThis setting can be used for a variety of things since it amplifies the overall volume quite a bit. Your audio can get quite loud rather quickly so be aware of that when selecting this option.VoiceWhile watching videos on YouTube or listening to podcasts, this option will specifically cut out the bass and bring the vocals to the front, which makes it easier to hear the speaker.Custom ProfilesYou have two custom profile options (Custom 1 and Custom 2) where you can tweak the audio settings and make one for yourself. You can use the example profiles from Step 5 or do some experimenting to see what sounds the best to you.

Step 4: Learn the Audio BasicsWhen you tap any one of the profiles within the app, you will be presented with a new screen with multiple options to choose from. I'll break down each option and briefly explain what they do in the section below. Volume LevelerUsing this option is not recommended for daily use, but when enabled, it will amplify the system volume level to make the audio very loud. Might be useful for certain situations, but feel free to try it for yourself to see if it's something that might work for you. I personally keep this specific setting disabled and use a custom equalizer profile instead.Dialog EnhancerTurning this option on is especially useful for listening to music with vocals, as it tries to enhance the quality of the vocals by making them more clear. It can sometimes overcompensate itself and make the audio loudness fluctuate a little bit, so it might not sound consistent in all cases. With my custom profiles, I had this effect on both the speaker and the headphones, which is why I left the option disabled. Feel free to test it out for yourself and see how it sounds with your music.Surround VirtualizerThis will simulate virtual surround sound in your headphones and may or may not be useful to you. Some people like the effect from this kind of software virtual surround sound while others prefer the original untouched audio. Try it with and without the option enabled to see what works best for your listening experience on your own set of headphones.Intelligent EQThere are three preset profiles you can default to if you like the way they sound and don't want to mess with the manual Graphical EQ settings.Focused: This will narrow the audio path and will concentrate the sound to a much smaller area. Rich: This will enhance the audio with more bass and treble, making the audio stand out more. Open: This will widen the audio path and will concentrate the sound to a much larger area. Using any one of these default profiles will slightly enhance your stock listening experience for both the speaker and the headphones without any extra adjustments on your part.

Step 5: Customize Your Listening ExperienceIf the default profiles are not enough for you, I've got you covered! The first profile I want to share with you is going to be for the phone speaker. From the main menu of the Dolby app, Tap the "Custom 1" section to get started with a custom profile. Long-press the profile name at the top and rename it to "Phone Speaker." The second profile will make your headphone listening experience much more rich than what you are used to hearing. Repeat the same step from the previous profile, but rename the second profile to "Headphones." Then all you have to do is make sure the "Graphic EQ: Manual" tab at the bottom is highlighted so you can get the manual adjustments for the 5-band equalizer. Use the screenshots above to drag the sliders for each band on your device to match as closely as possible to the profiles I have provided. You can use these profiles as a good starting point or as your daily driver — you can't go wrong with either one! There is no right or wrong answer since we all have different preferences when it comes to how we like to listen to our music. Have fun with your new sound and feel free to do a little experimenting if needed with any of the settings.Note: If you want to uninstall this module, head back to the "Modules" section on the Magisk Manager app from Step 2, then tap the trash can icon. You will have to reboot your device after that to completely uninstall the module.
