Google just dropped the new Android 9.0 Pie update for Pixel devices, and it's packed with cool new features. There's notch support, a new screenshot button, and even a way to edit screenshots after you've taken them, just to name a few. But one feature that's easy to overlook is the new transition animations, which have been completely revamped.Up through Oreo, transition animations were pretty fast and uninteresting — they mostly just moved a tiny bit, then did a crossfade effect to finish the transition between one screen and the next. But with Android Pie, new menus now slide up from the bottom of the screen and even have a little bounce effect as they're moving. These animations are present in menus everywhere, virtually any time you move from one activity to another within the same app. Of course, some third-party apps will employ their own animations, but the new 9.0 Pie style is present in Google apps such as Chrome.This doesn't apply to home screen animations, which are still the same in the first developer preview build of Android Pie. When Google announced that it would begin supporting Android apps on its own Chrome OS, it was great news for all the folks with Chromebooks. But, as that operating system only makes up about 0.2% of the PC and laptop market share, most of us were out of luck.But that exclusivity didn't last very long, as developer Vlad Flippov ported the runtime used in making Android apps playable to the Chrome web browser. This means folks with Chrome installed on their Linux, Windows, or Mac computers can now run many of their favorite Android apps, which is a much simpler, more universal process than using ADB or installing a standalone emulator. Step 1: Install the ARChon RuntimeFlippov's custom-built runtime that makes Android apps accessible to Chrome on any platform is called ARChon. To install the runtime, start by downloading the ZIP file at this link. Next, extract the contents of the ZIP to a folder that you can access easily. With that taken care of, head to Chrome's main menu and go to Tools -> Extensions. At the top of the next screen, tick the box next to Developer Mode, then click Load Unpacked Extension. From the next menu, browse and select the folder that you extracted from the ZIP file earlier. Be sure to choose the second folder in the folder tree (the one that contains the locales folder). After pressing OK, the ARChon runtime will be installed on Chrome. Ignore any error messages, as these are to be expected.

Step 2: Install Modified Android Apps on ChromeAndroid apps cannot be installed directly on top of Chrome, as a few modifications must be made to the APK files. But the good folks over on the ChromeAPKs Subreddit are maintaining a list of Android apps that have been ported for use on Chrome.Head to this link to view the list of ported apps. The entries labeled ARChon in the Runtime column are all compatible with this mod, so find one you like and use the download link on the right to grab it. From here, the process of installing an Android app is much like installing the ARChon runtime. Begin by extracting the contents of the ZIP file. Again, from Chrome's Extensions menu with the Developer Mode option enabled, click Load Unpacked Extension, then select the folder that contains the locales folder. Your Android app is now installed, and again, ignore any error messages as those are to be expected.

Step 3: Launching Android Apps from Within ChromeThere are two ways to launch the Android apps that you have installed on Chrome. From your Extensions menu, you can simply click Launch to run the app. Alternatively, if you have your Bookmarks Bar visible in Chrome, you can click the Apps button at the left to access your installed Android apps. The Android apps will have an Android logo to differentiate them from your regular Chrome apps. Controlling Android apps on a computer is rather intuitive—mouse clicks equate to screen taps, while a click-and-drag emulates a swipe gesture. Step 1: Install RedditCasterRedditCaster has a free ad-supported version (ads are only on your device, not your TV) available on the Google Play Store. There is also an ad-free version available for $0.99.

Step 2: Configure RedditCasterReddit Caster sends all of the images in a specific subreddit to your TV using a slideshow view. To configure some of the presentation options for this slideshow, tap the three-dot menu button at the top of the app and choose Settings. From here, you can adjust the time that passes before the slideshow switches to the next image with the topmost entry. Below that are a series of options for tweaking the look of the Captions (post titles).

Step 3: Log into Your Reddit AccountFrom the Reddit Caster home screen again, hit the three-dot menu button and select Login to provide your Reddit account credentials. On the next screen, you can enter your username and password so that the app will display your favorite subreddits instead of just the defaults.

Step 4: Cast a SubredditTo begin casting Reddit to your big screen, tap the Cast icon up top, then select your Chromecast from the next menu. Reddit Caster will handle images and even animated GIFs, but it does not cast text posts or videos. With that in mind, tap an image-centric subreddit, and the content will be be streamed straight to your TV. Either way, you can trade cryptocurrency from your iPhone today.While there are other great exchanges like Poloniex, Kraken, and Bittrex that you can use to trade cryptocurrencies, Binance has proven to be the most user-friendly. Getting New Binance Features Before Anyone ElseIf you don't mind dealing with some potential bugs, however, in order to experience the latest that Binance has to offer, you still have the option of downloading its beta versions by directly downloading it from their site. Using the beta version also prevents any downtime if the iOS App Store version ever disappears again, as new updates will not happen.Though not as straightforward, installing Binance directly from their site can still be accomplished with relative ease. We'll delve deeper into the process, so keep reading if you're interested in getting the beta versions of Binance on your iPhone or iPad.

Step 1: Install Binance on Your iPhoneTo get the beta version of Binance for iOS, you'll need to download the app directly from Binance itself, which can be done in one of two ways. The first method involves directly going to the site, so open Safari on your iPhone and head on over to this link.Alternatively, you can open the link on your Mac or PC, then scan the QR code that appears using your iPhone's Camera app. From there, simply tap on the Safari popup at the top of the screen, which will take you directly to the download link. Once there, tap the "Install" button on the bottom of the screen, then select "Install" once again on the confirmation prompt to finalize the installation. Go back to your home screen right after to make sure that the app has installed properly — but don't open it just yet — and proceed to the next step if it has.

Step 2: Trust Binance as a DeveloperWith Binance successfully installed, you'll need to trust the app's developer on your iPhone in order to use it. To do so, open the Settings app, tap on "General," and select "Device Management" (or "Profiles & Device Management"). Now, tap on "Shenzhen Posun Industry Co., Ltd" located under Enterprise App. From there, tap on "Trust Shenzhen Posun Industry Co., Ltd," then tap "Trust" on the confirmation prompt that appears to finalize your selection. You can now exit Settings and open Binance once you're done. Keep in mind that this is a beta app, so be cautious — after all, you're dealing with real-world money here. It's also worth noting that you'll have to trust Binance as a developer as outlined above every seven days because of its status as a non-official app. Binance is growing rapidly, so they've had a few server hiccups from the extra load recently, which means transactions can occasionally be delayed.But now that you've got Binance installed, we'll cover the basics of using the app in subsequent tutorials. But if you're happy with your current notification settings, and do not want to constantly toggle these on and off, then blocking notifications during certain times is the way to go.

Step 1: Install NotifidgetsThe app that will bring back lock screen widgets on Lollipop is called Notifidgets, and a free trial version is available on the Google Play Store. Apple has taken great strides to ensure that iPhone users are having an Apple Maps experience on par or even better than Google Maps can provide. One of the factors powering this is extensions, which adds functionality to certain apps by giving them permission to interact. Among all the possibilities, one extension will let you reserve dinner tables right from inside Apple Maps.This extension for booking tables at restaurants was created by OpenTable, though Yelp also has one available. However, if you've never used these apps before, it might not be obvious how you would even start booking tables directly in Apple Maps, especially if you can't find any restaurants that support the feature.Don't Miss: How to Translate Webpages in Safari on Your iPhone

Step 1: Install a Reservation AppFirst, you need to install an app that will let you make reservations in Apple Maps. There are not many, so your only choices right now are OpenTable and Yelp. You can search for one in the App Store or just hit the link below to go straight to one of them. Tap "Get" to download and install it, then open it. For the rest of this guide, we'll be using OpenTable, but it should be fairly similar for Yelp.Install OpenTable for free from the App Store Install Yelp for free from the App Store
Step 2: Set Up an OpenTable AccountOnce you open up OpenTable, either log in with Facebook or create your own OpenTable account manually. It's imperative that you have all this set up before you start booking reservations in Apple Maps. Otherwise, Apple Maps will just redirect you to OpenTable, defeating the purpose of the extension.

Step 3: Find the Restaurant in Apple MapsNot all restaurants in Apple Maps will let you book a reservation. First, the restaurant needs to be one that accepts reservations, and they also need to be partnered with OpenTable to process their reservations through them. Still, this leads to a surprising number of eateries to choose from.Once you open up Apple Maps, either manually look for a restaurant by typing it into the search bar at the bottom (it jumps to the top after you tap it) or by tapping the "Food" button that appears directly beneath the search bar. The "Food" section will expand to a list of types of "Food" (like restaurants and fast food), as well as suggest food near you.If a restaurant isn't OpenTable-compatible, then it simply won't give you the option to book a reservation in Maps. If it is compatible, there will be a button that says "Reservations OpenTable." Hunting for a place to reserve but not finding one yet.

Step 4: Reserve Your Table in Apple MapsFor example, when I searched for the wine bar Zeugma, I was able to book the reservation through OpenTable. Just tap the box that says "Reservations OpenTable" after you select the location in Maps. You'll need to enable the extension first by tapping "Enable Extension," but then you get plenty of options to customize your reservation. Here's a good place to reserve a table! You can choose your time using the carousel or you can fine-tune that and your number of guests by tapping "Change" next to "Tonight, Table for 2." On the next screen, you can change how many people the reservation is for, as well as modify the date and time. Tap "Back" in the top-left corner, then hit "Book with OpenTable," and you should be all set!
